"Everything you want in the world is just right outside your comfort zone."

~ Jennifer Aniston

Motivation Monday - Richard's Insight

Who would have imagined I would be quoting Jennifer Aniston? Well, to be fair she has certainly stepped out of her 'Friends' comfort zone more recently that's for sure. OK, so Marley and Me or The Bounty Hunter may not have been too much of a stretch but Cake certainly was!

Stretching ourselves helps us in several ways. Of course, it helps us to realise our greatest hopes and dreams by reaching above and beyond the normal grind and competence level. Equally, setting and then reaching higher targets, apparently beyond our past capabilities, gives us a massive dose of self-belief and a feel-good factor that becomes self-fuelling.

Even if we set a 'big, hairy audacious goal' as described in the book Built to Last, if we miss, we are still likely to stretch the elastic that little bit further as a result. Success and achievement are a little like a muscle really, the more we work it beyond its normal flexing, the more it grows, then there is 'muscle memory' to consider aswell.

So, why not set a stretch target beyond your comfort zone and see how your muscles shape up as a result?
